Troubleshooting Issues with Text Messaging

General Troubleshooting Tips

Parent does not have a field to send them a text message

SMS text messaging is a feature that is enabled by the guardians.  If they do not have it enabled, the text messaging field will not be available.

Parent does not receive a text message

If a parent does not receive a text message it is often due to a setting in their account information.  Have them double check the cell phone number in the system to ensure that it is correct.  It is also imperative that they have the correct cell phone carrier noted.  Often parents will update a phone number but forget to update the carrier as well.

There is a delay in the message delivery

KidCheck uses every possible technology to ensure that text messages get delivered as quickly as possible and most messages are delivered within seconds.  Even with those efforts, there occasionally might be a delay in the delivery of a message.  Because messages travel across internet connections, communication networks, and cell provider networks there could be a factor beyond KidCheck's control that might be causing a particular delay.  If you suspect a delay in the delivery of a message, simply resort to the other options of contacting a guardian.

How can a guardian text me back?

KidCheck has no way of determining who is sending the text message and text messages are delivered via our server network.  If you wish for a parent to text you back, simply include your cell phone number in the content of the message, or text them from your personal cell phone so that they can simply reply to your message.
