Understanding Your Children’s Check-In Through Video
Studies have shown favorable results of the effect video has on learning performance. It’s thought that those who receive video instruction score higher on recall than those who don’t. Most people are visual learners and prefer to receive a video demonstration which then can play/replay as often as necessary to become skilled at learning certain material. In addition, the cognitive process is said to be stimulated by the inclusion of video, thus making people more apt to engage in problem solving.
With billions of hits to YouTube each day its clear people enjoy watching videos. Below are 5 additional references points.
- You are four times more likely to look at video on a website than text and images – Cisco
- 90% of learning comes from informal training activities like apps, social networks and video – Nick van Dam, Chief L&D officer, Deloitte
- Video improves attention, motivation and the overall learning experience – Herefordshire and Worcestershire Lifelong Learning Network
- Dr. James McQuivey of Forrester Research says a minute of video is worth 1.8 million words – invodo
